In only three weeks (10.-12. 6. 2010) until the second “Cologne-Commons“-Festival will take place in Cologne (I am involved in the organizing team). The conference and festival focuses entirely on Creative Commons: what to expect from, how to deal and how to work with that licencse and the free content / culture resulting from it. This time we managed to have a two-day conference with panels and talk from experts, a two-day music festival and a movie night. Some topics of the conference are future of publishing-media, what about the “non-commercial” attribute in the CC-NC licence, upcoming do-it-yourself Robotics and a special feature with the creators of Netaudiofestivals all over Europe.

At the two-day music-festival, we will showcase artists, that strongly use Creative Commons to promote their works (or that work with Creative Commons in other ways). We tried to get a whole range of different artistic flavours. That’s why not only techno-artist come to play, but also artists from other musical directions, whether it be pop, live-improvisation, experimental or lounge music. To get an idea of the musical range, you can have a listen of the Cologne Commons Compilation Vol. 4, we released several weeks ago, featuring Creative Commons music. (Uh, I compiled the compilation by the way, and also made the artwork)

This year we will have a movie-night as well. At a cinema we will show Creative Commons based movies, that got it’s own unique way of telling stories. Don’t miss the opportunity, to see them at the “big picture”.
