Right from the heart of Cologne, another Netaudio-magazine called Netlabelism was born and seen the light of the day this weekend. This new online-magazine is about digging “high quality netaudio” – free music from the internet – and present it to the audience by writing reviews. The authors of Netlabelism are mostly netlabel-owners (from Cologne again), making this new child a passionate one. This mag was established by Markus Scholz from Modularfield. We heart and welcome Netlabelism, that seem to become the third reliable netaudio-mag, besides Phlow and InqMag.

Unfortunately making games is much, much work. Execution takes for more time, that having great ideas. But if you ever stuck on having cool ideas (for example at one of the “make a game as fast-as-you-can” events), let’s use this tool! With the game idea generator you can generate hundreds of cool game ideas in no time: Just press the button for having another one! Why not make a “calm, music game combined with sports game, set in space.” Or go with “ugly, boring, adventure game combined with FPS, set in a slum”? Hard choice..

Wow, I can feel the creativity floating around here and there suddenly now! I don’t know, who came up with this idea first, but following this thread at the cocos2d-forum and the Streamingcolour-generator, this thing was inspired by the Creative Unblock generator and made first by Streamingcolour. Struct made a similar one, that seems to be a rewrite of a flash-based version, he made two years ago. (Thanks Nico for the hint.)

Dominic Szablewski is currently working on a very cool project, called the “Impact Game Engine“. It’s a JavaScript/HTML5 game-engine, that is ready for browser-based webgames. But he took the project one step further: Dominic wrote a API-wrapper for the Apple iOS, that is able to run the same code, that works on browers, in the native iOS, completely bypassing the UIWebView / Safari iDevice browser: “All the necessary calls to the Canvas API have been reimplemented with OpenGL-ES and the touch input is passed over to JavaScript to be evaluated by the engine.

Here is an example of the game Biolab Disaster. It is just the same code, that runs in the browser:

Let’s wait and see, what Apple will say to this approach! (via, via)

We look forward to Super Crate Box, a fast paced arcade-shooter game, that looks like a wild ride on hot weapons. The mix of retro-graphics and that pushing music is booting the disk! The webpage about the game:

Super Crate Box is coming to bring back the glory of the golden arcade age, when all that really mattered was getting on that high score list. Grab your baseball cap and loosen your pants, it’s time to fight endless hordes of enemies and collect every weapon crate you can.

Let’s do it! Although the trailer doesn’t look like this, it totally seems to me, that a 2-player mode would highly increase the fun in front of the keyboard! The game should be released at 22. October 2010 is here. (via)

Just stumbled upon this footage of the upcoming Sword and Sworcery and wanted to share as well. I like that visual style (but who not?) and also the hugeness of the maps – wondering, if there will posters available later on… (via)
