<a href="http://8bitoperators.bandcamp.com/album/wanna-hld-yr-handheld-vol-1">8-Bit Operators “Tomorrow Never Knows Megamix” by 8-Bit Operators</a>

Chip everything, chip the world! Not long ago, we had with Da Chip the ultimate collection of Daft Punk tracks in chipmusic-style. And today we present “Wanna hld yr Hendheld Vol.1“. A collection of Beatles-tracks, that got chippyfied by famous artists like Anamanaguchi, Glomag, Goto80 or Psilodump. It took over two years in the making, and some of the sounds compiled there are phenomenal. Both from the uniqueness of sounds, as well as from the composition. This tracks are more, than just “Beatles played on chip”. Worth trying!

offworld

I am sure, most of you know the blog Offworld, a side project of the famous Boing Boing. It seems, that Offworld is going to rest. Brandon Boyer, the very creator and editor of this blog wrote in his blog, that Offworld was eaten by the major relaunch of Boing Boing itself. He will keep on writing weekly columns for the “Mother Boing”, but Offworld will see no future be updated occasionally.

At the same time Brandon spread rumours, that he will keep on going with indie-games-blogging. He maybe will pop out with some new project. He writes: “there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that I’m cooking up Something New basically like as I write this, and that there are a lot of exciting things that will go hand-in-hand with it” (via)

finwick1

Finwick is an absolute lovely crafted, triple-A flashgame. In this platformer you guide Finwick and his girlfriend Pentella through different levels, in order to deliver a mail to an ecologist. It is not so much about the story, but especially gameplay, graphics and soundeffects are totally unique. Blissful game experience granted. The only word of critic has to be made about the ingame-dialogues. They are also crafted very well, but somehow the number and frequency of the speech-bubbles not really fit the rhythm of the game and they are a little bit annoying. But this is not really a fault.

The first 25 levels are available free. To unlock the whole game you will spend 5,99 dollar. The game is played in the browser and it is almost a duty to check out the demo! This platform-game was made by Small Green Hill and definitely plays in the same league like Samorost or Machinarium by Amanita Design.

launchpad-ableton

Today the quite visual Launchpad audio contoller from Novation was released. It is customised for the use with Ableton Live and got a certain sci-fi feel. I totally like that music-controllers are getting more and more abstract, distracting the line between making music and playing a game. Read some first hands-on impressions at the Create Digital Music blog.

Grid – Matrix and audio you say? There are more things like this around lately. Check out ToneMatrix, Monome, Inudge or Tenori-On.

I just stumbled across ASCII pOrtal. An “Portal”-inspired ASCII game, but I bet, that Portal inspired ASCII-game would fit much, much more. The 2D-game is a puzzle game, that is available for download on the CymonsGames-site. Via Superlevel I also detected an interview with the creator. Check it out here.

glitch-designing-imperfection-cover

An interesting book about Glitch Art was released. It features works from Kim Cascone, Beflix (who I interviewed once) and Angela Lorenz beside others. Linger within the book at the official site or at Amazon.
